Joanna joined Professional Planning Group in 2018. As Chief Operating Officer, Joanna is part of our leadership team and is responsible for establishing the firm’s strategy, as well as the financial and operational initiatives, including ensuring business operations are effective and efficient. She has extensive experience in planning and implementation of process improvement, financial reporting and analysis and corporate and accounting policy. Joanna is a Registered Principal of the firm, a member of the Executive, Investment, Compliance and Development Committees.
Experience
Prior to joining Professional Planning Group, Joanna was VP, Assistant Controller for The Washington Trust Company for 14 years, where she was responsible for financial reporting, project implementation, reconciliation, internal controls and accounts payable. Previously, she was Controller at Bess Eaton Donut Flour Company, Controller at MIM Corporation and Audit Supervising Senior at KPMG.
Education
Joanna earned her Bachelor of Science with a concentration in Accounting from the University of Rhode Island in 1991 and her Certified Public Accounting [CPA] designation in 1993. She holds the Series 7, 63 and 24 licenses.
Community
Active in the Community, Joanna serves as parent advocate for children and adults with disabilities as President of Board of Directors of the Olean Center. She also serves on the Finance, Governance and Development Committees. Joanna also serves as on the Board of Directors for the Ocean Community Chamber of Commerce, an organization committed to the betterment of the local community.
Family
Joanna lives in Westerly, RI with her husband Al. They have three children, Alyssa, Lauren, Sophia and their mini goldendoodle Bo.
Hobbies
In her free time, Joanna enjoys the beach, community events and spending time with her family and friends. Being of Italian descent, she enjoys making wine and homemade pasta with her family.
