Joanna joined Professional Planning Group in 2018. As Chief Operating Officer, she utilizes her financial, leadership, technical and regulatory skills to identify and implement strategic, financial and operational initiatives to execute business strategies, and translate goals into actionable operational plans for business growth and a competitive edge. She oversees the firm’s daily operations including finance, human resources, technology, and risk management optimizing efficiency and driving sustainable growth, while ensuring the firm adheres to regulations and internal policies. Joanna is a Registered Principal, a member of the Executive, Investment, Compliance and Development Committees.
Experience
Prior to joining Professional Planning Group, Joanna was VP, Assistant Controller for The Washington Trust Company for fourteen years, where she was responsible for financial reporting, project implementation, reconciliation, internal controls and accounts payable. Previously, she was Controller at Bess Eaton Donut Flour Company, Controller at MIM Corporation and Audit Supervising Senior at KPMG.
Education
Joanna earned her Bachelor of Science with a concentration in Accounting from the University of Rhode Island in 1991 and her Certified Public Accounting (CPA) designation in 1993. She holds the Series 7, 63 and 24 licenses.
Community
Active in the Community, Joanna serves as parent advocate for children and adults with disabilities as President of Board of Directors of the Olean Center. She also serves on the Finance, Governance and Development Committees. Joanna also serves on the committee and is a past president of the Board of Directors for the Ocean Community Chamber of Commerce, an organization committed to the betterment of the local community.
Family
Joanna lives in Westerly, RI with her husband. They have three grown children and a mini goldendoodle.
Hobbies
In her free time, Joanna enjoys the beach, community events and spending time with her family and friends.
